The World of Grandpa Don
7/28/01 Many virus creators use forwarding as a method to spread their vile product thought the internet. They constantly find new ways to accomplish this. A favorite is, once they find their way to your computer (usually because you opened an attachment or even just an innocent looking email), it finds your address book and sends itself to everyone in it. Then it proceeds to do it's damage to your files and repeats the procedure on the computers of those to whom it has been sent. Be careful about the email you open. Because it comes from a friend, doesn't mean it is safe. Always use a mail utility with a preview pane and look at the message from the sender to verify that they did intend to send it. Be particularly suspicious of mail with attachments. This is where the infected file usually lurks. If you are not sure about it ... DELETE IT ... BEFORE OPENING IT.
