Many people forward text that has been forwarded to them (See Forwarding Email) and you face something that looks like this:

>> > The quick
>  >>brown fox jumped
> >>over the messy looking message.

Sure, you can read it. But if you are going to send it on to a friend and just forward it, it may get to him looking like:

>> > >> The quick
>  >> >>brown fox jumped
>> > >>over the messy looking message.

The courteous thing to do is to get rid of those prefixes.

  • Just go to your EDIT menu and chose REPLACE.

  • In the "Find" window type >

  • Leave the "REPLACE WITH" window blank.

  • Click REPLACE ALL.

They are all gone!

The quick
brown fox jumped
over the messy looking message.

Now, if you want, you can do a little more cleaning up by going to the end of each line and typing a space and delete so it looks like this:

The quick brown fox jumped over the messy looking message.

Now that you have done this, copy the text to a NEW email and delight your friend(s). (See Forwarding Email)

For an even better way to do this see ...
Can I interest you in a stripper?

I have, and sometimes still do violate some of the rules listed here. I promise to try and do better.
