Death isn't Funny
We are at war. t is very unfortunate that we need to take such drastic action, but I feel it is justified and needs to be done. Terrorism must be stopped.
The e-mail regarding the terrorists keeps coming. The latest trend is animated cartoons depicting what is, or should be done with the terrorists and those who harbor them. Unfortunately, the bombing and military actions that are required to accomplish our purpose, result in the death of more than terrorists and their supporters and, ... death isn't funny.
We use this kind of humor to de-humanize the enemy. It is an old ploy and it works. I is a salve for our conscience. It makes us forget about the innocent ones who are victims. It makes us forget about our own people lost or injured in the process. It also tells the terrorists that we are no better than they are.
I would like to suggest that It would be better to pray to God that He reach into the mind of our enemies and turn them to the true teachings of their faith. Pray that God awaken in them a desire for peace, a need for love and a compassioned heart. The goal should be to turn them to our way of thinking, not us to theirs.
We do not need to punish these people, God will take care of that. We only need to use everything in our power to stop them in their ways. Prayer is one of our weapons. Bombs and killing is another, but ... Death is not funny!
