About a prayer for victims.
After the 9/11 attacks, our religious education students made index cards which were passed out to parishioners. Each card had the name of one of the victims and we were asked to pray for them by name. I did that for several months and then began to pray for all victims of man's violence and neglect. Sunday morning at church, Marianne Reiner suggested that our parish web site could link to a Chicago Tribune web site that provides the ability to look up a victim by name, see a photo and a story of his life and family. One could even email a message of support to the family. When I came home I created a Memorial page on the St Julie web site with the link to the Trib. I also formalized the prayer I had been saying every day and put it on the page. A copy is on my "Prayers" page.
Tuesday, This event in the history of the world is so momentous and important that it needs a special page on this web site. Some of what is found here is shared from other sources and some is the result of my thoughts inspired by the events and their aftermath. |
