This Sunday night, NBC again seeks to draw an audience with gratuitous offerings of female titillation. In a shameless effort to challenge FOX network’s Super Bowl, NBC plans to air the first 20 minutes of Fear Factor during the game’s half-time, featuring the pornography industry’s Playboy Playmates. Wives and mothers beware: Expect NBC to offer the men in your family plenty of sexual content.

According to Lynn Wildmon-White, president of Esther Ministries, which counsels and holds workshops for wives of porn addicts, a program like NBC’s Playmate’s Fear Factor can have devastating effects on a marriage.

“It devalues the wife and gives the impression that it is okay for men to focus on another woman’s body,” said Wildmon-White. “In essence, the wife’s self-respect is damaged and the purity of marriage is cheapened.” “NBC has abandoned all virtues of respectability,” said American Family Association president Don Wildmon. “They continue to dwell in a morbid world of filth and feral activity. American television decency standards are under attack, and NBC is priding itself on leading the charge.” Wildmon has criticized the network for other recent anti-family program decisions as well. In December,2001, NBC broke a long-standing taboo when it began hawking ads for hard liquor.

On Sunday night, January 6, The Weakest Link featured a porn star and a Madam. Not surprisingly, NBC president Scott Sassa said he is basically giving up on family-oriented programming. “If his desire is to offend and drive off families, he’s got the right formula,” added Wildmon, “Moms and Dads all across America can readily find good reasons to dump NBC.”

ACTION NEEDED

AFA encourages you to contact NBC President Jeffrey Zucker and tell him to stop the assault on traditional family and marriage values in America.

Contact members of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Let them know networks like NBC are out of control and should be held accountable for broadcasting offensive programs on taxpayer, publically-owned airwaves.

Our entertainment and It's effect on our society.

I have long been troubled by the trend of the entertainment media to disregard high moral values and to promote instant gratification and selfish behavior as the norm.
