No Sound

I went to turn on web radio to listen to one of Anthony's baseball games and discovered I had no sound at all on my computer's speakers. I tried everything I could think of with no results. Then I remembered, coming home the previous evening and finding a digital clock blinking and two 'touch' lamps on. There had been a power surge or outage! But, ... the computer has a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and it was working OK. Also, the indicator lights on the speakers were 'on'. I bowed to the experts and sent off an email to Gateway giving my system serial number and a description of the situation. The following morning, I had a reply.

Hello Donald,

Thank you for your e-mail. I understand that you are having trouble with the sound after a minor power outage. Please unplug the alternating current (AC) power to the speakers for 5 to 10 minutes, and then plug them back in. This resets the circuit protection and allows for normal operation. If you have any further questions please feel free to let us know.

Thank you for choosing Gateway.
