In these days we have more than enough real threats to our safety and peace of mind without the added stress of false threats. Often, in computer virus terminology, this is called a HOAX. Occasionally I receive an email from a friend who is warning of a virus. The friend is forwarding the message which was sent to many other well meaning people. Usually, it is a HOAX. Trend Micro, a trusted source of Anti-Virus software, has a web page describing these hoaxes as well as information regarding real problems. When I get an email from a friend, warning of a virus or worm, the first thing I do is check the Trend Micro "Hoax" page. Usually, I can assure my friend that there is no reason to be alarmed.
