.

I don't do email petitions.

It is a matter of lack of confidence in their effectiveness regardless of the cause.

How can the recipient put any credibility in them? There is no way to verify the authenticity of the "signatures".  In addition, when you sign it, and send it on to 12 of your friends, and assuming they do the same, your signature is now on 12 petitions. When these people do the same, your signature in now on 144 of them. Then 20,736 and ... so on. How can they be taken seriously?

The best way to do a petition is to sign a paper one with numbered pages which fully identifies you and which will be mailed or deliver it to the proper party.

Another method is to send a single email to the person or company which positively identifies you as the sender. This is now a common practice for contacting your government.

There are internet services which process petitions on line. One such service is http://www.petitiononline.com

Email petitions are as useful as spam.
