 Man Praying

The Prayer Corner

Mathew 5:24
Leave your gifts there at the altar, go first to be reconciled to your brother, and then come back and offer your gift.

Lord God,

You gave us your beloved Son this Christmas Day to save us and bring us to you. We thank you and bow to You.
No greater Love is there in this universe, no greater sacrifice.

And so we celebrate this day as long as we have breath to do it.

Thank You, Lord, God. We are yours, we are beholden to You.
You have already given so much but we ask for perseverance in the face of temptation.

Bless us all this Christmas Day.

Be kind to one another
with brotherly love and honor"

Happenings and thoughts of the past week
in the World of Grandpa Don ...

I received an email last Saturday and I must share it:

It's so great to see the sunshine again today. Confirmation that God gives hope and encouragement in many different ways.....Today, it's the sunshine.  He is our sunshine on bright or gloomy days!

I just want to thank you for the beautiful Christmas message within your blog.  If one isn't inspired after reading and hearing your messages, then they are brain and heart dead.

May you enjoy a glorious Christmas and your New Year be abundant with His blessings.

You are a blessing to one and all, by your presence in our lives, inspiring us to think with open hearts and minds; and letting the common prejudices fall away and think in a different manner.

I treasure our friendship.
Merry Christmas!

My friend confirms that she got the message I want, need, to send. At this time of my life all I can do is tell people how I feel. Her words inspire me to continue so that if the message of love and tolerance reaches just a few it will be worthwhile.

On that positive note, I invite you to click on the crusader and join a crusade of love.

I also invite you to click on the next knight to see if you want to join a crusade of a different sort:

Join them both ... Why not. Tell your friends about them.

"Kind words are the music of the world"

Most Americans are political moderates who believe that our elected representatives should check their egos at the door and work together for the common good. Moderates believe that negotiated solutions are not treasonous, but help to build the kind of economic confidence and momentum that benefits all Americans. Now if we could just figure out a way to get more moderates of both major parties to vote in the primaries.

The fact is that John and I agree on a lot of things, John is a layer and I have often said that he is in danger of giving layers a good name.

This is the Buchler Family Christmas and my son Dan (at left, standing) gets to attend along with his wife, Karen Buchler, and several of my grandchildren. Ted & Marilyn Buchler are in the middle of the group. Merry Christmas to the Buchler Clan. The theme of the gathering was a Sinatra Christmas. Notice all the fedoras.

This next picture is my sister Marilyn's gift to her siblings ...

Al Copeland, of course, is my father. I have him to thank for my existence. Thank you Marilyn. Your annual gift always serves to tie family together and as you can imagine, that is very important to me.

Grant me daily the grace of gratitude,
to be thankful for all my many gifts,
and so be freed from artificial needs,
that I might lead a joyful, simple life.

I saw Dr. Schiappa on Tuesday. He is my GP and I see him because everyone needs a GP no matter how many specialists he sees. My Cardiologist sees me every 6 months and he orders a battery of blood tests prior to our appointments and I always have a copy of the test results sent to "Dr Skippy" (as his patients and the hospital staff refer to him) and see him shortly after. It keeps him in the loop and up to date on my condition in case I need a GP. His visits are always pleasant especially when the tests have had good results as did the most recent. But, I was positive that I had an appointment with my foot doctor the following day and would have gone to his office except for a last minute attract of doubt. I called his office and they told me no, I had no appointment. we determined that the appointment was for next week. The mind is the first part to go. Yes, I have appointment cards but I never throw the old ones away and this nurse never writes down the year of the appointment so I have a stack of outdated appointment cards. STUPID! But no longer, I just threw out all the old ones and resolved to stop keeping them. I really don't need to intentionally confuse myself.

And now back to the season ... Go ahead, crank up the volume ...

Love a spring coming up out of the ground of our own depths.
"I am gift." All that I am is something that's given, and given freely.
Being doesn't cost anything. There's no price tag, no strings attached.

I am having a more "satisfied" feeling with my new meals as selected by my daughter, A "report" is in order. The Lean Cuisine Sesame Chicken I had for dinner Wednesday night was delicious as well as healthy. The Hormel "Completes" (not refrigerated) are generally very good as well except ... their new breakfast offering of eggs, potatoes and bacon is a bummer. If it had bacon I couldn't find it and the rest was the consistency of a poor grade of cardboard. They are a definite "NO". I enjoy lunches of lite rye bread and Honey ham with mustard. Other items that Anne Marie bought for me were good and satisfying while being low calorie. In general I have been very satisfied with my meals for the past two weeks

I consider Matthew Kelly to be a man of wisdom and value his insights. And when, as in this discourse, he rings a bell with me, it reinforces both my opinion of him and that of myself. I tend to be a loner, not that I am anti social, for that I am not, but in that I can, and do, exist somewhat in isolation. A hermit, I'm not, nor could I be. But I do like to get away from the noise of the world. I like to have my quiet place and my quiet time. Therein I find the truth of life. I find comfort in silence. It brings me peace. You will find me to be an advocate of moderation in all things and that includes isolation.

Each of us is an artist of our days;
the greater our integrity and awareness,
the more original and creative our time will become.

John O'Donohue

Where do we look for happiness?
