There is something greater between us

In his Pentecost homily, Fr. Lanza told a story of people of different faith who became good friends. They found themselves in a situation which could have taken that friendship to the breaking point due to an unintentional religious affront. However, the person who could have taken offence, realizing that an affront was not intended, pretended that it did not happen. The pretence was obvious to all and, if anything, strengthened the friendship.

There was something more important than a religious rule or belief at stake. All of us are bound together as children of God, striving for the common good. Yes, we are black, white, oriental, we are from different ethnic backgrounds, we are rich, poor or in-between. But there is something greater between us than our differences.
