The Hostility Factor
Researchers have discovered that there is a factor that causes heart attacks that is even more devastating than high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or obesity. They called it the "hostility factor". People who are angry, short tempered and generally have a hostile attitude are very apt to suffer heart attacks. (I knew that!)
The suggestion was that there is medication available to combat this state of mind. (Instant attitude fix. ... take a pill.) Or, a person could go to anger management seminars. (A good way to treat the symptoms.)
An alternative to managing your anger is to replace it with something else. In place of concentrating on curing a negative attitude, work of something positive. Why not just "be nicer than we need to be"? You can't be hostile or angry if you are being nice to others. Soon it becomes a habit. The added benefit is that you can help others as you help yourself.
Wouldn't this be a much better, and healthier, world if we just tried to be a little nicer than we need to be?
