The World of Grandpa Don

You Get What You Give

You get what you give,
in like and in kind,
The trust you instill,
is that which you find,

The joy that you spread
must ever return,
A lamp must be filled
before it will burn.

You get what you give
 in gladness or woe,
A seed must be planted
before it will grow,

There must be a dream
for it to come true,
And he who would dare,
must learn how to do.

You get what you give,
don't ever expect Life
to give more
than she can collect.

All things are weighed
on the scales up above,
And he is found wanting,
who's empty of Love.
